FETCH! Oil and Energy Louisiana Children's Museum

Louisiana Children's Museum

Saturday, July 23, 2011

Energy industry societies are once again pooling their efforts together under the umbrella name of PIPE (Petroleum Energy Promoting Education) to sponsor energy education. On July 3, 2011, PIPE will participate with the Louisiana Children's Museum (LCM) FETCH Oil and Energy Saturday.

One Saturday each month, the LCM transforms into a science challenge lab where children investigate the world around them using the power of play as their number one tool. The Energy FETCH Challenge introduces young visitors to energy and its daily use, theme being Oil and Energy. Children and adults learn how fundamental energy is through age appropriate FUN activities.

PIPE

As in years past, various oil industry societies join together to provide highlights of their societies and their discipline. The Delta Chapter of American Petroleum Institute (API) will feature exhibits and presentations from their Energy & Society guide in conjunction with Project Learning Tree. Society of Petroleum Engineers – Delta (SPE) will provide visual examples of porosity. The New Orleans Geological Society (NOGS) is showcasing their oil finders game, fossils and rocks. Desk and Derrick (D&D) will feature their Petro Molly Activity Book. These are just a few of the interactive displays that will be available to introduce the oil industry to children. Information will be available for parents and teachers, as well.

Please plan to visit the Louisiana Children's Museum at 420 Julia Street on Saturday, July 23. This is a great opportunity for children (and parents) to learn about the energy industry and its many disciplines.
