GEOLOGICAL DRAFTSMAN/DRAFTER

JOB TITLE: GEOLOGICAL DRAFTSMAN/DRAFTER
JOB DESCRIPTION: Applied graphic science in support of various engineering/geological projects. In some cases, the drafter makes precise drawings (pictorial representations) using a drafting table, T-square and drawing instruments to provide maps, cross-sectional drawings, charts, graphs, blue prints of the earth structure below the surface using well log data. In many cases, drafters now use computers and CAD programs to produce drawings.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 2 yr. Trade School or Junior College drafting certificate.
Must have average or above average math aptitude and basic computer skills.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated skill in use of instruments, and hand lettering; willingness to travel to field and/or job site as required; willing to attend company sponsored schools.
ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Approximately one to two years related work experience. Satisfactory typing skills.
WHERE TO APPLY: Numerous major and independent oil companies. Independent geologists and engineering companies.

Announcements

The API Delta Chapter Board of Directors have approved a donation to a joint LSU-UNO levee monitoring project in the amount of $7500. The API Delta Chapter supports this project to predict and prevent levee failures. We also support the joint LSU -UNO collaboration and training of students in the use of state-of-the-art Near Surface Geophysics technologies. The API Delta Chapter joins our sister societies in support of this worthy project. Information on the Levee Monitoring Project can be obtained in the accompanying presentation.
